Jaboticaba is a Brazilian native that fruits directly on its bark in clusters that look like dark grapes erupting from the trunk. It is one of the most visually stunning fruit trees in the world. Sabara is the most popular variety in Brazil and Florida -- a slow grower, but once it starts fruiting it produces multiple crops per year.
Sweet and grape-like with a thick, tannic skin and a translucent white jelly-flesh inside. The burst of juice is intensely fruity. Often compared to a Concord grape crossed with lychee.
