Sweetheart is the lychee boutique growers seek out. The large, heart-shaped fruit and high flesh-to-pit ratio make it one of the most prized varieties in Florida. It ripens slightly ahead of Mauritius, giving a May through June window. Like all Florida lychees, it requires serious pest management -- the Lychee Erinose Mite can devastate an unmanaged tree. Best suited for committed growers.
Exceptionally large, heart-shaped fruit with sweet, slightly less floral flavor than Mauritius. Outstanding flesh-to-pit ratio from its frequent aborted (chicken-tongue) seeds. Rich and satisfying.
